A new project for Taos
February 04, 2020
Now that I’ve been  I’m living here in Taos for a while, it’s time to make some music with other kindred spirits here. I’m lucky to have connected with bassist Ben Wright, whom I’ve known off and on for years through his dad, saxophone player Jack Wright, with whom I’ve recorded. I’ve also met up with percussionist Chipper Thompson, who has played wtih Ben, and so a new little trio is formed!

We’ve had one little introductory jam/rehearsal, and we’re all intrigued with the results.

I think it will be more muscular and taut than LUTS, which is a bit more expansive in its ethos. I m also seeing this trio in two versions – an acoustic one (wiith yours truly on oud), and a high powered electric trio/quartet. I may add electronica to the formation as well, now and then.

Stay tuned!
